April 22, 2026, 81, Goldsboro – James Carol “Jim” McClure, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at UNC Wayne Health Care in Goldsboro.
Jim was born on March 8, 1945, in Ellensburg, Washington, to the late James Ollie McClure and Ruth Ora Weaver McClure. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Whitley McClure; and his sisters, Virginia Nicks, Karen Johnson, Barbara Wall, and Colleen McClure.
A proud veteran, Jim honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he dedicated 42 years of hard work and commitment as a machinist with Turkington in Goldsboro. Jim was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and dependable nature.
In his free time, Jim found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time fishing and took pride in keeping his yard just right, especially while riding his beloved Cub Cadet lawnmower. He also shared a special bond with his faithful dog, Scooter, and his cat, affectionately known as “Mean Cat.”
Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Joyce Davis McClure; his son, Russell McClure; his grandchildren, Jayden Eason and Brayden Wilson; and his sister, Laurie Mae McClure. He is also survived by Joyce’s children, Allen Powell, Jackie Hall, Rita Johnston, Rex James, Tyler Hall, and their families, all of whom he loved as his own.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel, with military honors concluding the service.
Jim will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his country, and his work, as well as for the quiet joy he found in life’s everyday moments.
