April 17, 2026, 88, Goldsboro – Audrey Martin Thomas, 88, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mecklenburg County on December 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Martin and Katherine Whitner Lowder.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Thomas and granddaughter, Marianne Livengood.
Audrey is survived by her daughters, Cathy Lee (Mike) and Debbie Striplin (Brad); son, David Thomas (Aida); grandchildren, Michael Brown, Pedro Romero, Josue Romero, Stacie Boyer, and Lindsay Striplin; great-grandchildren, Jacob Livengood, Rachel Livengood, Rhys Boyer, Emersyn Boyer, and Locklan Boyer; her brother-in-law, Robert Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Audrey built her life centered around the Lord, which provided a great example to all, and influenced her children immensely. She was an avid Bible reader and was heavily involved in Precept Ministries. She taught children’s Sunday School for many years, most recently at Gateway Community Church.
A service to celebrate Audrey’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Gateway Community Church in Pikeville with Rev. Thayer Stamper officiating. Private interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
