April 14, 2026, 89, Goldsboro – Gerald James Lancaster, 89, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at UNC Wayne in Goldsboro, surrounded by the love of his family.
Gerald was born in Wayne County on January 7, 1937, to the late James William Lancaster and Hattie Pope Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Holland Lancaster, and his grandson, Dustin Lancaster.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Gerald retired from Firestone-Bridgestone in Wilson after many years of service. He also proudly served his state and country as a member of the North Carolina National Guard. Outside of his work and service, Gerald found great joy in the outdoors, especially in hunting and fishing—pastimes that brought him peace and lasting memories.
Gerald will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and his deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
He is survived by his son, Tim Lancaster; his grandchildren, Joey Lancaster (Stacy) and Liane Windley; and his great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his special friend, Bonnie Strickland; his loving niece, Kim Williams; and his step-daughter, Michele Hyatt.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. A private interment for the family will be held at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Saulston Community Church.
