GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Three men are now facing charges in connection with an armed robbery at a Goldsboro business that involved a handgun and multiple felony offenses, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
On March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers responded to 1 Stop Tobacco at 200 N. Berkeley Blvd in reference to a robbery with a dangerous weapon. Investigators say a man entered the business, brandished a handgun, and fled the scene with stolen property.
During the investigation, authorities identified Kevin Debose, 30, of Winston-Salem, as a suspect. Warrants were secured, and Debose was later taken into custody without incident by the King Police Department SWAT Team in King, North Carolina. He is being held without bond pending his first court appearance.
Debose is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Additional Suspects Identified
As the investigation continued, Goldsboro police investigators, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), identified two additional suspects tied to the robbery.
On April 6, warrants were issued for Tavares Allen, 34, of Goldsboro, on a charge of felony conspiracy, and John Lewis, 35, of Raleigh, on charges including robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Allen was arrested without incident on April 7 by the Goldsboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and VICE Unit in the 700 block of N. George Street. He was transported to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office and received a $200,000 secured bond.
Lewis was arrested on April 13 by the Raleigh Police Department and ATF in Raleigh. He was later booked in Wayne County, where he received a $275,000 secured bond.
All three suspects are now facing multiple felony charges as the investigation remains ongoing.
