April 2, 2026, 77, Goldsboro – Larry Ray Edmundson, 77, passed away early Thursday morning, April 2, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Larry was born in Wayne County on April 19, 1948, to the late Seth Raymond Edmundson and Rachel Mozelle Wiley Edmundson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ruth Best Edmundson.
Larry dedicated many years of faithful service as a lineman with Carolina Telephone before his retirement. He was a proud and active member of Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M., the Wayne County Shrine Club, and the Wilson County Shrine Club. As one of the founding members of the Wayne County Mini Rigs, Larry found great joy in fellowship and service. His love for the work of the Shriners was evident in his steadfast support of Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Known for his friendly spirit, Larry never met a stranger. He always had a story to tell or a word to share—sometimes something you needed to hear, and sometimes something you didn’t know you needed. Above all, he was a man with a generous heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Larry was a faithful member of Unity Fellowship Church, where he found comfort, joy, and community in worship alongside his church family.
A graveside service, with Masonic rites, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Wayne Memorial Park, with Pastor Kelvin Gurley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Larry is survived by his brother, Jimmy Edmundson; his dear friend, Donna Worley; and several nieces and nephews, including Charlotte Price, Phil Edmundson, Jeff Edmundson, Tracy Hamilton, Renee Pope, Linda Cook, Lisa Strickland, Steven Edmundson, Stephanie Edmundson, and Sean Edmundson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry’s memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to Unity Fellowship Church.
