February 3, 2026, 40, Goldsboro – John Edward Pine, 40, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his home. Born in Delphi, Indiana on January 29, 1986, John was the son of Gary James Pine and Elizabeth Long Johnston.
John dedicated more than 13 years of his career to Butterball in Mount Olive and was most recently employed as a complex maintenance manager with Case Farms. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership, John took pride in providing for his family and giving his best in all he did.
A devoted family man, John was a loving husband, an exceptional father, and a faithful son and brother. He took immense pride in his son, J.T., and was his biggest supporter in every activity and milestone. Family meant everything to John, and he lived each day striving to be the very best husband, dad, son, and brother he could be.
John’s faith was central to his life. He found great joy in worship and fellowship with the congregation of Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church, where his love for the Lord was evident in both his words and actions. He was also a proud Notre Dame fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church, followed by a service to celebrate John’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The service will be officiated by Pastor Barry Teague and Pastor Ryan Barbato. Interment will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
John is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kennedy Pine; his beloved son, John-Tanner “J.T.” Kennedy Pine; his mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Jimmy Johnston; his father and stepmother, Gary and Karen Pine; brothers, Daniel Pine (Tomeka), Jared Pine, David Pine (Jennifer), Dustin Pine (Theresa), and Joshua Pine (Audra); sisters, Marci Patterson (Hep), Susan Pine, and Anne Powell (Chase); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Patrick Kennedy; mother-in-law, Beverly Kennedy, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tanya and Doug Newberry.
