January 19, 2026, 54, Wilson – Towanda Renee Pitt, 54, of Wilson, was born March 24, 1971, to the late Herbert Sr. and Bettie Harris Pitt in Wilson, NC and entered Heaven January 19, 2026.
“Wan”, as she was so affectionately known as, had a sister Mika, whom she decided to walk beside with Jesus.
Wan attended the Wilson County Schools and graduated from Ralph L. Fike High School in 1989 and shortly after received her degree in Business. She always had a zest for learning which led to her earning several more degrees.
After graduating from high school, Towanda joined St. James Holy Church.
She enjoyed family, trying out new recipes, and playing cards. She was an avid reader and word game player. Her favorite comedians were Arnaz J and Gary Owens. Wan loved her son more than anything.
She leaves to cherish those memories a son, Zacharry “Zac” Elliott of Black Creek; three sisters, Tammie Pitt Jones, her twin, Loretta Harris, and Jacqueline Pitt, with whom she lived; one brother, Herbert Pitt, Jr (Veverly).; nieces, Tiara, Ciara, Kiara, Kela, Zoya, Kayla, and Nadia; nephews, Qua, Zaire, Micah, Adian, Mario, Jarvel, Tahquan, and Jr.; aunts, Carol Harris and Connie Barron; uncle, James Harris; great-uncle, Bud Harris; special uncle, Elder Ronnie Lewis and a host of other family and friends.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:30 PM at St. James Holy Church, Stantonsburg with Pastor Michael Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Gate Cemetery, Pikeville, NC. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
