January 15, 2026, 86, Goldsboro – Floyd Luke Hill, 86, passed away at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Born in Wayne County on August 30, 1939, he was the son of the late Luke Hill and Selma Smith Hill.
Floyd is survived by his son, Mark Hill. Floyd is also survived by numerous cousins.
Floyd was employed by the State of North Carolina, where he worked in maintenance for many years. In addition to his state service, he was a row crop farmer who took great pride in the land and the work it required. After retiring, Floyd enjoyed spending time on the road driving a big truck, something he truly loved.
Known for being very mechanical, Floyd was always tinkering, fixing, or improving things. He had a natural ability to work with equipment and could often be found in the shop working on a project.
Floyd will be remembered for his strong work ethic, practical skills, and the simple joys he found in a life well lived.
A memorial service to celebrate Floyd’s life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Free Gospel Church at 7 p.m. with Pastor Michael Parks presiding. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be sent to Free Gospel Church, 145 Free Gospel Rd, Snow Hill, NC 28580 in memory of Floyd.
