January 11, 2026, 65, Goldsboro – Peter Russell Strickland, 65, of Goldsboro passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at his home. Pete was born in England to the late William Robert Strickland and Doreen Tidd Strickland. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Lee John Strickland and Roy Bernard Strickland.
Pete, as he was called by his family and friends, was a great carpenter and could make anything with his hands. He loved his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them when he could. His grandkids had several nicknames for Pete, which he loved. Pete could make anyone laugh just by being himself, which was one of his best gifts. Several of his grandkids have his sense of humor.
He is survived by sons, William Christopher Strickland of Hendersonville, NC, Nicholas Mackenzie Strickland of Pocahontas, WV, Zachary Alexander Strickland of St. Augustine, FL , and Peter Gabriel Strickland of St. Augustine, FL; daughters, Shanna Marie Strickland (Ashley) of Mills River, NC and Heather Leigh Sharp (Dakota) of Mill Springs, NC and 9 grandchildren, Willow and Destinee Whitlock, Jaxon, Gabriel and Everleigh Sharp, Aidyn, Jupiter and Mackenzie Strickland and Maverick Strickland; and two very special friends (family), Glenn and Barbara Barnes of Goldsboro, NC.
