Oliver Hudson Faulk, Sr., 87, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at the home of his daughter, Lynn, with whom he had been living for several years. It was on the family farm not far from Beautancus, near Mount Olive, that he breathed his first breath, lived his whole life, and breathed his last.
A life-long farmer, he began farming duties at the age of 14, raising various crops, produce, and swine. He had also been employed with the ASCS office in Duplin County for which he measured land and crop allotments. As a young man, he worked at Calypso Plywood Company and was a night supervisor.
Mr. Faulk is survived by two daughters, Lynn Faulk Barrett, of Mount Olive, and Janet Marie Faulk Wyatt with husband, William Wyatt, Jr., of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, Andrew Rex Outlaw with long time companion, Ashley Collins, Rebecca Dyer with husband, Christopher, April Nicole Faulk, Oliver Hudson “Trey” Faulk III with wife, Loretta, Anastasia Davis with husband, Dee, and Arthur James “A. J.” Wyatt with wife, Gabriella Marie; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Grace Summerlin Faulk; a son, Oliver Hudson Faulk, Jr.; a son-in-law, Howard Barrett, Jr.; his father, Oliver Dreadmon Faulk and his mother, Emma Kate Hudson Faulk Gurganus, and he was their only child. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Arthur Carroll Gurganus, for whom he had great admiration and respect.
Graveside services for Mr. Oliver Faulk will be Wednesday, January 14, at 3:00 p.m. at the Faulk Cemetery on Pettifoot Road, Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Rose. Pallbearers will be Sean Austin Outlaw, Christopher Dyer, Larry Outlaw, Phoenix Dyer, Carey Turner, Rex Outlaw, Gerald Bell, Andrew Outlaw, and Stephen Gradyl. Friends and relatives may see the family at the home of Lynn Faulk Barrett.
