January 5, 2026, 76, GOLDSBORO – Delia Rebecca “Becky” Smith, 76, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon in Hospice Care at her home in Goldsboro. She was born on April 28, 1949, in Wayne County, NC to the late Percy Wells Sr. and Peggy Jernigan Hyatt. Becky’s life will be remembered as a woman who loved her Lord and cared deeply for everyone and was often thought of as a second momma to many.
Becky retired from General Electric company as a quality inspector and when not working she enjoyed shopping and traveling. She will be remembered as a fancy lady who boldly spoke but who also had a great sense of humor.
Becky leaves behind her loving husband, Durwood “Buddy” Smith, her daughter, Yvonne Smith of Hampstead, NC, her granddaughter, Hannah Kornegay of Goldsboro along with three sisters and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, her daughter Angela Kornegay and her granddaughter, Haley Kornegay.
A graveside service will be at 3pm on Monday, January 12th at Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor Joy Howell officiating.
