January 3, 2026, 91, Laurinburg – Sadie Hamer Bullard Deans, 91, formerly of Dudley, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born in Marlboro County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Henry Stephen Bullard and Lucy Florence Driggers. Sadie was the true backbone of her family—a woman whose life was defined by her devotion to her loved ones and her unwavering reliance on God’s grace. Though she was a dedicated homemaker for many years, she later worked outside the home to provide for her family, always leading with a kind and caring spirit.
Sadie shared over 50 years of marriage with her beloved late husband, David Edward Deans. While she faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s in her later years, her strength of character never faded. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Scottish Pines for the compassionate and professional care shown to Sadie during her time of need. They also extend a special thank you to her niece, Linda Manning; Linda was the daughter Sadie never had, and she loved her dearly. The family is forever grateful for everything Linda did to ensure her comfort and care.
Sadie is survived by her son, Keith Deans and wife Susan, of Ashville, her sister, Geneva Ruth Melton; and her cherished grandchildren: Ryan Deans, Brandon Deans, Morgan Deans, Sarah Johnson, and Hannah Handley She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren who brought her much joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her son, Leslie Edward “Eddie” Deans; and her sisters: Mary Elizabeth Locklear, Gladys Williams, Maggie Bowen, Dorothy McGrift, Olama Strickland, and Sally Lockey,
