December 23, 2025, 98, Goldsboro – Edna Blackmon Kopac, 98, peacefully passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 while holding the hands and hearts of her beloved family. Born in Sampson County on December 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William Lennie and Sudie Daughtry Blackmon.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Edward Kopac; son, Jack Michael O’Conner; son-in-law, Billy Hall; and brother, Jack Blackman.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Ann Hall and Kathy Smith (Ray); grandchildren, Ronald Sills, Lisa Stancill (Gene), Lynn Smith, Steve Wiggins (Kim), Karen Kearney (David), Michael Wiggins, Ashley Korba (Christian), and Marvin Sills; sixteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Richard Carpenter (Janet).
Edna was a devoted and loving woman whose life was defined by her deep commitment to family, faith, and kindness to others. Family was always paramount to Edna, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and their families. She was truly a special blessing to those who knew and loved her, and her presence brought warmth, comfort, and love to every gathering.
Edna had a thoughtful and caring nature, which she expressed in many ways, including her love of sending cards to family and friends to brighten their day. These small but meaningful gestures reflected her generous heart and her desire to stay connected with those she cared about.
In her professional life, Edna was employed by General Electric, where she worked in both Goldsboro and Washington. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication throughout her career.
A woman of steadfast faith, Edna was a dedicated and faithful member of Daniels Chapel Church. Her faith guided her life and was a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration to her family and community.
A service to celebrate Edna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
