Pauline Wooten, affectionately known as Sue, passed away at the age of 81 on May 14, 2025, at Wayne UNC Hospital. Born on March 12, 1944, in Wayne County to the late Leamon and Mattie Mae Wooten, she lived a life full of love and dedication.
A proud graduate of Central High School, Pauline held various positions throughout her life, working at Wilber’s Barbeque and Patel’s Door Factory before retiring from Howell’s Child Care Center in LaGrange, North Carolina. Her career was marked by a genuine passion for nurturing and caring for others.
Pauline’s warmth and generosity touched many lives; she was a beloved mother, aunt, and friend who never met a stranger. She is preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Shari Wooten.
Pauline’s loving memories will forever be embedded in the hearts of her family: her sons, Gregory, of the home, and Rodney (Shante) of Goldsboro; ten grandchildren; two grandchildren by the late Sharri Wooten, totaling a blessing amount of twelve, one great-granddaughter; as well as special nieces Sonya Rivera and Debra Campbell, her special nephew Anthony and niece Grace Sutton, and a host of close relatives and friends who will always remember her kindness and spirit.
