Eleanor “Ellie” Rae Goller Clark, 87, of Goldsboro passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Friday, May 2 surrounded by family. Eleanor, born August 18, 1937 in Twin Falls, Idaho, was the youngest of nine children born to the late Walter and Myrtle Goller.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Lt. Col. James “Jim” Wilton Clark, and her siblings Elizabeth “Sis” Windsor, Kenneth Goller, Wilbur Goller, Jim Goller, Dorothy Von Weller, Annie Higginbotham, Neva Lincoln, and Doris Scates.

Eleanor is survived by her children Joseph Wilton Clark of Durham, Teresa Clark Eberwein and husband Derek of Clayton, Stephanie Clark Strickland and husband Brian of Goldsboro and Steven James Clark of Cary. She also is survived by seven grandchildren who lovingly called her Granny and The Dutchess: Lindsey Clark (and Pete Georgas), Joseph Clark (and Anna Clark), and Jennifer Clark; Sam Eberwein (and Erin Eberwein) and Brad Eberwein; Emmett Strickland and Ian Strickland; and four great grandchildren: Madison Brown, Jacob Georgas, Cameron Clark, and James Clark.

Eleanor graduated from Boise High School and St. Alphonsus Nursing School in Boise. Her nursing career began in the US Air Force taking her to Blytheville Air Force Base in Arkansas where she met Jim. In 1999, she retired as Nursing House Supervisor at Wayne Memorial Hospital after more than 20 years of service.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Eleanor’s dear friend Jane McLamb, friends and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, and Kitty Askins.

The family will gather for a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
