William Wood Uzzell, 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Born in Wayne County on November 1, 1936, he was the son of the late William Green and Beatrice Fields Uzzell.

Mr. Uzzell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Garner Uzzell; four daughters, Tonya Uzzell Best (Tommy), Natalie Uzzell Wright (David), Jodie Uzzell Hudson (Dwayne), and Noelle Uzzell Karlawish (Keith); and six grandchildren, William Uzzell Wright, Grace Garner Wright (Jordan Szabo), Adam Garner Hudson, Sawyer Lee Hudson, John Uzzell Karlawish, and Lela Anne Karlawish.

Mr. Uzzell was a 1954 graduate of New Hope High School and a 1958 graduate of Atlantic Christian College. He was a founding member of the Sigma Rho Phi fraternity at ACC.

Mr. Uzzell was a lifelong farmer in Wayne County and taught in the local school system for 13 years. He was a member of New Hope Friends Meeting.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the Uzzell Family Cemetery with Bill Garner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Seymour Funeral Home.
