The Wayne County Fire Marshal has lifted the burn ban for Wayne County effective Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. The N.C. Forest Service is lifting its burn ban at the same time Wednesday.

The burn ban was issued May 24, 2021 due to hazardous fire conditions in many eastern North Carolina counties. With recent rainfall in the area, as well as more rain in the forecast, the fire danger has decreased for Wayne County. The N.C. Forest Service will resume issuing burning permits today at 5 p.m. through authorized permitting agents or online at www.ncforestservice.gov/burnpermit.
