Oliver Henry “Mac” Cook

Oliver Henry “Mac” Cook, age 88, a lifelong resident of Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mac was a member of Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church where he had served in numerous capacities throughout his tenure of membership. Mac was well-known in the area for his expertise in roofing and sheet metal works, and his carpentry and repairman skills.

Mac was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Farrior Cook; his parents, John Henry Cook and Annie Parker Cook; and a sister, Shirley Cook Gardner.

He leaves behind two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Eugene “Gene” and Joyce Cook of Myrtle Beach, SC, and John Carroll and Effie Cook of Mount Olive; a sister and brother-in-law, Glenda Cook Anderson and Dortch Anderson of Dunn; a brother-in-law and wife, Bobby and Linda Farrior of Calypso; several nieces and nephews, and their families; a special friend, Pinky Dixon of Mount Olive, to include her family; and a special friend and fishing buddy, the Rev. Bobby Smith of Mount Olive.

Funeral services for Mac Cook will be held Saturday, May 29, at 10 a.m. by the graveside at Wayne Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Sherman Dilley and the Rev. Bobby Smith. The family will greet friends at the cemetery at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Northeast Church, c/o Jo Brown, 1551 Kelly Springs Road, Mount Olive NC 28365.
