Leon Owen “Buck” Peele

Leon Owen “Buck” Peele, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Buck was born in Wayne County on June 12, 1938 to the late Ernest and Sadie Evans Peele. He was a valued employee of Franklin Baking Company for many years and later of Nahunta Pork Center. Buck was a member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate Buck’s life will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in Pikeville Cemetery.

Buck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine Carter Peele; daughter, Debbie Lewis and husband Eddie of Pikeville; grandson, Brandon Windham and wife Catherine; great-grandsons, Jayden and Luke; daughter-in-law, Karen Peele; and brother, John Wayne Peele and wife Jackie of Pikeville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Peele and brothers, James Peele and David Peele.

Buck’s family would like to acknowledge the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice, particularly Sherre and Carol, as well as the friends, caregivers, nurses, and physicians who had a profound impact on the quality of Buck’s life in recent months.
