Bonnie Lula Creech Summerlin, 72, of 163 Sand Pit Road, Seven Springs, passed away at her home with family by her side on May 11, 2021.

Born March 27, 1949 to the late E. D. “Jack” Creech and Bonnie Littrell Creech, Bonnie grew up in Seven Springs. She was a retired postmaster who served the communities of Albertson and Maury over the course of her 30-year career. She was a long-time member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and she was one who loved and appreciated her church family.

Bonnie married her husband and lifelong sweetheart, Donald Monroe Summerlin, on February 25, 1968. They spent 53 years together. Donald and Bonnie were blessed with a daughter, Donna Marie Summerlin Hamm (David) of Powells Point, North Carolina; and a son, Donald Matthew Summerlin, of Goldsboro.

Bonnie loved being Granny Mema to her grandchildren Caleb Austin Hamm; Cayleigh Hope Summerlin; Seth Ayden Hamm; and Matthew Peyton Summerlin. She filled their lives with love and laughter. In her last few days, she often spoke of how she looked forward to seeing her grandson Hunter Matthew Summerlin, who preceded her in death; and meeting the other grandbabies waiting for her in heaven.

Bonnie is also survived by a brother, Roy David McCullen of Gates, N.C.; and five sisters, Gail Eldridge of Georgia, Faye Brown of Goldsboro, Geraldine Warren of Mount Olive, Kitsie Blakely of Seven Springs, and Jackie Strickland of Raleigh.

Services will be held at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive on Saturday, May 15, at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Friday, May 14, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and at the home at other times.
