Just after 11 PM Tuesday, Kinston Police heard gunshots near the 500 block of E. Shine Street. The officers began searching the area when they received word that a subject had arrived at UNC Lenoir with a gunshot wound to his leg and hip. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Ricky E. Roach, Jr. of Kinston. Officers were able to collect several shell casings from the 500 block of E. Shine Street and located a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.
