Marjorie Mitchell Hester went to her heavenly home on 21 April 2021 after an extended illness.

She is survived by her sister, Lorene Stanley of Goldsboro, her son Joseph Gurley (Wendy) of Cayce, SC, her daughter Susan Gurley of Goldsboro, her grandchild MacKenzie Dowse (Chase) of Richmond Hill, GA, 3 stepchildren, James Hester, Michael Hester, and Laura Hester, numerous nieces and nephews. She was born 17 February 1938 to the late Aldon F. Mitchell, Sr., and the late Pearl Killette Mitchell. She is predeceased by her husband Dr. J. Charles Hester of Jacksonville, NC, a brother, Alton Franklin Mitchell, Jr., of Bishopville, SC.

She was a 1956 graduate of Pikeville High School.
