Late Saturday afternoon, firefighters from Dudley and paramedics from EMS Station 8 were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Emmaus Church Road between Sleepy Creek Road and Brewington Road. The responders found a single vehicle accident involving a black Ford Escort that went off the right side of the road, struck a concrete culvert and overturned in a yard. Both patients were out of the vehicle and laying on the ground beside the vehicle. A second EMS unit from Station 9 also responded to the scene to assist. Both patients, a male and female, were transported to the hospital with injuries. The Ford was apparently heading south on Emmaus Church Road when it rounded a curve and ran off the right side of the road. The accident is being investigated by The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and charges are pending against the driver. There was light rain falling in the area at the time of the accident.
