The Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 100 block of Stevens Memorial Place around 7 AM Friday for the report of an unresponsive subject laying near the roadway.  EMS also responded and confirmed the subject was deceased.  The GPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene. The individual was later identified as 26-year-old Jordan S. Whitfield of Goldsboro.  The preliminary investigation reportedly shows no external trauma to the decedent.  Whitfield’s body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Officer to determine the cause of death.  The Goldsboro P.D. says there is no indication of foul play at this time, and the investigation continues.
