Goldsboro Episode Now Streaming On Amazon Prime Video

An episode of The History Channel’s show, “It’s How You Get There” featuring Goldsboro-Wayne County is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The season three episode, “Going for Goldsboro,” originally aired on the History Channel on Sunday, August 9, 2020. The episode is available to watch at no additional cost for anyone with an Amazon Prime Video subscription.

“It’s How You Get There” appeals to travel, thrill, and transportation enthusiasts by following two friends who travel around the country using exciting modes of transportation that ultimately highlight interesting destinations and “hidden gems.” With that premise, Goldsboro-Wayne County was an appealing location, as the home of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Busco Beach and a thriving historical downtown. The History Channel worked closely with Visit Goldsboro to ensure that the resulting episode was an action-packed, novel and exciting segment, which highlighted multiple locations around the Goldsboro area.

The show’s producers initially approached Visit Goldsboro, the travel and tourism department for Goldsboro-Wayne County, in 2019 to express interest in featuring Goldsboro as the hero location for an episode of “It’s How You Get There,” and the filming took place June 23-26, 2020. The storyline of the show highlighted Performance East, Busco Beach, Downtown Goldsboro, Goldsboro Brew Works, Goldsboro Fire Department, and Wilber’s BBQ.

“Goldsboro-Wayne County’s feature on the History Channel, and now Amazon Prime, is indicative of the great strides our community has made in the last several years to better tell our story and become a destination worth visiting. It’s a great opportunity to showcase to a national audience the positive assets of our area, like the ATV park, BBQ scene, historic downtown, and our transportation heritage that ranges from trains to planes,” said Ashlin Glatthar, director of travel & tourism for Goldsboro-Wayne County. “Not many hometowns can claim ‘As Seen on TV,’ so this show is a source of pride for our community. Taking into account the impact that COVID-19 has had on our travel market, I believe this show can help drive visitation back into our market — as well as drum up new interest and awareness of Goldsboro-Wayne County among potential visitors on a national level.”

According to Visit Goldsboro, original airdate on the History Channel of “Going for Goldsboro” garnered 478,000 views, which was deemed a great success by the producers. Based on the viewings, this project proved a value of $1.2 million of earned media on a national television platform. Meaning, if an entity was to pay to reach a national audience of that size and duration, the estimated paid advertising amount would be near $1.2 million.
