January 4th 2021, 76, Mount Olive –

Betsy Lee Flowers Adams, 76, a lifelong resident of Mount Olive, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4th 2021. She was born in Wayne County on December 10th, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Mossett and Hettie Flowers.

Betsy was no stranger to the Town of Mount Olive. Growing up on Center Street she was often seen downtown at her father’s general store, JB Flowers and Son Grocery, making snow cones or popcorn. In her adult years she touched many children’s lives. Betsy was a majorette teacher and was often seen in the local Christmas parades leading the Mount Olive High Steppers. Also Betsy had a love for the sun and enjoyed her time managing the Southern Wayne Country Club pool and teaching many children swimming lessons.

But most of all, Betsy had a huge heart, contagious smile and was always ready to give a compliment or two to make someone’s day. Betsy had so much love for her husband, children, grandchildren and special friends.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy L. Adams ; a daughter, English Adams Albertson and fiance, Billy Wiggins; a son, Jim Adams and wife, Roxie; grandchildren, Addilee English Turnage, Hilton Adams, and Hayes Adams; and a sister, Estelle Flowers Baker of Wrightsville Beach.
