Stella Odom Hatch, resident of the Dudley area, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 23, 2020, while at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was 95 years old.
Mrs. Hatch was a long-time member of Rhodes Friends Meeting where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School secretary for many years. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living member of Rhodes.
An excellent homemaker, she did her part in providing a loving home for the family. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm until he became disabled, and then she tenderly cared for him until his death. Mrs. Hatch had also worked in the cafeteria at Brogden Middle School to supplement the family income.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rhae H. and Mickey McClenny, and Alice H. Roberts, all of the Dudley area, Ronnie Hatch of the Mar-Mac area, Goldsboro, and Annie H. Grantham and husband, Tommy, of the Rhodes community, Mount Olive; grandchildren, Eric Hatch, Kevin Roberts and wife, Melissa, Jaime Kelly and husband, Ralph, Adam Roberts and fiancé, Tracy Adcock, Travis Grantham and wife, Deidra, and Erin Cox; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Payton Hatch, McKayla Smith, Ethan Roberts, Luke and Brady Kelly, Jordyn, Harper, and Paisley Grantham, Max Locklear, and Waylen and Annie P. Cox; and a great-great-granddaughter, Hadleigh Pearson.
Loved ones she now joins in heavenly rest are her husband, Wilbert Ray Hatch; grandsons, James Payton Grizzard III and Tony Ray Grizzard; sons-in-law, John Edward Roberts, Jr. and James Payton Grizzard, Jr.; her parents, Gilbert Ray Odom and Mary Catherine Coates Odom; and two brothers, Marvin Odom and Ray Odom.
A service to celebrate the good, Christian life that Mrs. Hatch represented will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 26, by the graveside in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive with her pastor, Carroll Overman, presiding.
