YMCA Plans Expanded Turkey Trot Events

The Goldsboro Family YMCA has expanded its traditional Turkey Trot 5K and Fun Run to include a 500 yard or 1650 (One Mile Swim) as well as a one hour mix Group Exercise Class for the non-runners. In addition, the Y will also be offering a 5K and 10K Virtual Run for those runners looking for a more significant at home Thanksgiving Day Challenge.

5K Run

To adhere to group mass gathering restrictions, the 5K and Fun Run start times will be staggered in reserved groups of 20 runners beginning at 7:00 a.m. and departing every 10 minutes.

One mile Swim (1650 Yards)

The Y’s Mile swimming challenge will begin at 7:00 a.m.

Fun Run, 500 Yard Swim and One Hour Group Exercise Challenge

All additional events will kick off at 8:00 a.m.

Proceeds from these events support the Y’s Men Program’.  Last year, the Goldsboro Family YMCA had nearly 500 runners to attend this family-friendly event to support the Youth Programs at the Goldsboro Y, like our CHANGE program where we join together to fight childhood obesity. Taking place on Thanksgiving Day again this year, we have in person options such as, 5k, 1 mile Fun Run, swimming options, as well as additional exercise options. We are also offering virtual options for the 5k, 10k, and 1 mile Fun Run.
