Geraldine “Jean” Stocks Vernon was welcomed into her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Jean was born on February 4, 1940 in Lenoir County to the late Kathleen Clark Moore. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Moore and Mack Stocks.
Jean was an unstoppable force. Very independent, she let nothing get in her way of achieving anything she wanted to accomplish. She was an incredible cook and put her talents to use in the cafeterias of local schools and as a professional baker. She retired from the Lenoir County Government as a 911 Telecommunicator. Cooking, gardening, and boating were pastimes that she considered time well spent. Prior to her sickness, she faithfully attended Trinity Free Will Baptist Church in La Grange.
A service to celebrate and remember Jean’s life will be held by the graveside on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange.
Jean loved her family fiercely. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Errol Jarman and wife DeeDee of Fayetteville, and Carol Jones and husband, Clayton of Grifton; grandchildren, Justin Johnson of Kinston, Jeremy Johnson and wife, Avery of Greenville, and Dawson Jarman of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Ethan Johnson and Ezra Johnson; siblings, Phyllis Mozingo and husband, Keith, and Ray Moore and wife Peggy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
