Food Distribution Allowed To Stay At Maxwell Center For Now

A food distribution will be allowed to continue at The Maxwell Center until the end of the year.

Tuesday, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners gave Three In One Family Center permission to continue its food distribution at the Maxwell Center until December 31st.

Wayne County Manager Craig Honeycutt explained the operation had outgrown the traffic capacity at The Max.

Honeycutt says the county will also see if the Bussman Building at the corner of John Street and Dixie Trail could suit Three In One’s purposes.

The Wayne County Fairgrounds has also been made available for the food distribution.

Commissioner Freeman Hardison made the motion to allow Three In One to continue using the parking lot at The Max contingent upon a memorandum of understanding that covers liability, traffic control, and a release of liability for the county.

Commissioner Joe Daughtery noted the importance and the need for the program.

Three In One has been holding the food distributions at The Maxwell Center on Mondays during the COVID-19 pandemic.
