Johnathan Matthew Humbles

November 10, 2020, 40, Kinston

May 30, 1980-November 10, 2020

Johnathan Matthew Humbles laid aside the battles and burdens of his earthly life and entered into perfect rest on November 10, 2020.

Johnathan was born in Eddy County, New Mexico to Patricia Joyce Humbles on May 30, 1980. Mischievous, rambunctious, and always the prankster, Johnathan brought pure delight into the lives of his family. He loved to laugh and loved to see others laugh. His friends and family hold many happy memories of the his pranks and practical jokes.

What placed the smile on Johnathan’s face was the love of his wife and children. Johnathan quietly and gently won Tracy’s heart. When she knew he was the only one for her, the two made a commitment of forever to one love another. On March 20, 2004, Johnathan and Tracy wed. He was a loving and considerate husband.

Johnathan’s children were his best buddies. A kid at heart, his family often joked that Tracy was raising three children: Savannah, Thomas, and Johnathan. The kids shared the same interests as their dad, from Star Wars to Transformers. For his two babies, there has never been a better “daddy” or “dada”.

With a heart for Christ and love for his church, Johnathan was dedicated to assisting at Bethel F.W.B. Church in any way he could. His specific skills came in handy especially during the past few months when live-streaming was the primary means of sharing the Gospel from church to homes. Johnathan’s family finds comfort in knowing he is with the one who loved him most, his Savior, Jesus Christ.

A service to celebrate and remember Johnathan’s life will held by the graveside at Pinelawn Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020, with Pastor Chris Truett officiating. The family will receive friends at the home.

In addition to his mother, Johnathan is survived by his wife of 16 years, Tracy Whaley Humbles; his children, Savannah and Thomas; his mother and father-in-law, Edward and Annette Whaley; aunts, Faith Webb, Hope Humbles, Charity Humbles, and Glenda McKinney (Scott); uncles, Blake Humbles and Bill Humbles (Stephanie); and several special cousins. Johnathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Mack and Peggy Humbles, and an uncle, Boyd Humbles.

In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel FWB Church for the College Education Fund for Savannah and Thomas. Attention Greg Fordham, 1936 Banks School Road, Kinston, NC 28504 Johnathan loved his children beyond measure, and wanted nothing more than to give them every opportunity for success.
