Ernest Herman “Ernie” Sutton II

Ernest Herman Sutton II, known simply as Ernie, passed away in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday night, October 1, 2020. He was 51 years of age.

Ernie was born in Abilene, Texas where his parents were living at the time due to his father’s air force duties. He graduated from Southern Wayne High School and had resided in the Dudley area and the Pleasant Grove area near Albertson before his recent marriage. Ernie was employed with Smithfield Foods in Kinston and with Delmus Hardware in Goldsboro. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Duplin County.

Surviving Ernie are his wife, Tina Lee Sutton of their home in Goldsboro; a daughter, Jennifer Nicole Sutton and her friend, Noah Briggs, of Goldsboro; his mother, Linda Rouse Sutton of Pleasant Grove community, Albertson; three step-sons, Nick Lancaster and wife, Kaitlyn, Jeremy Lancaster, and Zack Lancaster, all of Goldsboro; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Connie Lee of Goldsboro; a brother-in-law, Jerry Lee and wife, McKenzie, of Goldsboro; two special nieces, Madelyn and Savannah Lee of Goldsboro; several aunts, uncles, and many dear cousins. Also dear to him was his beloved pets, Little Bit and Roscoe.

Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest H. “E.H.” Sutton; and his grandparents, Josiah and Lillian O. Rouse, and Ernest G. and Maebelle W. Sutton.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 5, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive with funeral services ensuing at 3 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by the Rev. Michael Sauls. Burial will be after the service in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
