GRIM MILESTONE: Over 1,000 COVID-19 Deaths In N.C.

North Carolina has crossed 1,000 coronavirus deaths.  According to Thursday’s update from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, there have 39,481 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.  1,064 of those cases have resulted in death.  There are currently 812 persons currently hospitalized in the state due to the coronavirus.

As of Thursday, the Wayne County Health Department has received notification of 1,400 total positive cases of COVID-19. 73 of these cases are attributed to congregate living facilities and 858 are cases from outside any type of congregate facility. 469 offenders at Neuse Correctional Institute tested positive for COVID-19, but they have recovered as reported earlier this month by NCDPS. 901 of the 1,400 individuals who have tested positive in the county are now considered recovered, leaving an estimated total of 477 cases that are currently active in Wayne County.  The current total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Wayne County is 22.
