Suspect Arrested For 2018 Fire In Pikeville

On September 23rd of 2018, the Patetown, Pikeville and Northeast Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire on the 200 block of Forehand Road in Pikeville. Once the fire was under control, members of the Wayne County Office of Emergency Services and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist the fire departments in the investigation of the origin and cause of the blaze. Agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation also responded to assist. After an extensive investigation was completed, the sheriff’s office reported Thursday that 36-year-old Donald Ross Evans of Pikeville was determined to have set the fire. Warrants were issued on Evans for Breaking and Entering and Second Degree Arson.  Evans has been arrested and his bond has been set at $12,000.
