Goldsboro Ends Curfew

Goldsboro Ends Curfew

The City of Goldsboro has lifted its curfew and state of emergency.  At 10:30 AM Thursday, Mayor Chuck Allen signed a proclamation ending the state of emergency and curfew that had been in effect from 9 PM until 6 AM since Monday.  The state of emergency and curfew had been put in place due to the potential for unrest caused by death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died while in the custody of Minneapolis Police officers.  His death has led to protests around the world, some of which have turned violent and destructive.  In Goldsboro, demonstrations held since Sunday evening have remained very peaceful.
