Goldsboro Declares State Of Emergency, Curfew In Effect At 9 PM

Protests over George Floyd’s death and the actions of the Minneapolis Police officers involved have resulted in violence across our country.  On Sunday night, a protest was held in downtown Goldsboro that remained mostly peaceful thanks to the Goldsboro Police Department and several community leaders. Another protest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Monday, June 1, and is likely to draw another large crowd in the downtown area. In light of this, Mayor Chuck Allen has declared a “State of Emergency” and instituted a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice, with the exception of people traveling to or from work.
