Goldsboro Selects New Parks & Rec Director

After an extensive search, the City of Goldsboro has selected Felicia Brown as the new director of the Parks and Recreation Department. Brown has served as interim director since December 2018. Her salary will be $85,053.11.

“Felicia has done an excellent job as interim director, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said City Manager Tim Salmon. “She offers us the best opportunities to move forward out of the state of emergency and into the future of our Parks and Recreation programs.”

Brown has more than 25 years of experience in recreation. She previously served as athletics supervisor for Person County Parks and Recreation and as director of the Tarboro Road Community Center for the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department. Brown has been with the City of Goldsboro’s Parks and Recreation Department since 2011, starting as recreation supervisor and later becoming assistant parks and recreation director.

“It is truly an honor and a privilege for me to be selected as the parks and recreation director,” Brown said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our citizens. Our Parks and Recreation Department has a great group of hardworking, dedicated staff. We look forward to making play happen as we transition out of COVID-19.”

Brown has a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure Studies and Recreation Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association (NCRPA),

National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
