PRINCETON – At first glance, bitter rivals Rosewood and Princeton appear to have plenty in common.
Separated by just seven miles, both schools are nestled in small, tight-knit communities in eastern North Carolina, and are supported by loyal and passionate fan bases. Since the start of the 2018 season, the Eagles and Bulldogs have been among the most consistent programs in eastern North Carolina, combining to go 93-22 with three collective trips to the NCHSAA state semifinals. … read more »

PRINCETON – At 3:06 this afternoon, Wayne County 911 received a call from an individual at 219 Capps Bridge Road in Princeton in reference to a suspicious armed individual at their residence.
After arriving, deputies were approached by a male suspect armed with a shotgun. Verbal commands were given to the suspect and he did not comply. After raising the shotgun and ignoring verbal commands, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound from deputies on the scene. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and no identification is available at this time.
This incident, along with the use of force, is being investigated. The SBI is also now on the scene.

PRINCETON – Princeton has been on the doorstep of reaching North Carolina High School football’s grandest stage for the last two years.
With some significant roster turnover and new faces in key roles, the Bulldogs know they have plenty of work left to do before reaching the ultimate goal of playing for a state championship. Princeton was on the practice field early Wednesday morning preparing for the 2023 season. … read more »
Princeton – Princeton mayor Don Rains, a local businessman and community leader, has filed for re-election.
“Princeton is in the middle of significant community projects such as drainage, water and sewer improvements, and we continue to raise funds to complete the construction of the new community center,” Rains said. The new center will be a venue for family and town events, as well as the Town Library. We have renewed economic success in our community, and I see an even brighter future with the completion of Interstate 42. Our community needs leadership that reaches out and involves the community.
