Christopher Dane Crumbacker, 25, passed away April 10, 2021. Dane was born to Richard Crumbacker and Kim Waters Crumbacker in Lenoir County on April 1, 1996. Dane was preceded in death by his PePa, Elma Daughety; MeMa, Clara Daughety; Granny, Helen Faulkner; aunt, Marcy Moore; his grandfathers, Walter Crumbacker and Anthony Giniewicz; and a bonus brother that he met in Heaven, Derick James Anthony Shaw.
Dane was the baby of the family and he took every advantage of his position. He was his grandparents’ pride and joy and the apple of mom and dad’s eye. As a baby, Dane made sure his parents kept him close by refusing to sleep anywhere except his crib. Growing up, he made his presence known with a loud and boisterous voice and could carry his weight when wrestling or fighting with his brother. Dane was all boy all the time.
Paradise Shores was his home away from home as a child during the summer. As he grew older, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad. He and Richard were both Jeep fans and the two could always find a new adventure in the Wranglers. Playing pool and listening to all kinds of music were only two of his pastimes. He got his love of Def Leppard from his mom. If you knew Dane, you know he was a little bit obsessed with his X-Box and could spend hours on end playing games. He really enjoyed family time, especially with his nephews and nieces.
Dane had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed being the prankster at home and at work. His charismatic personality drew others in, making him the friend for everyone and anyone. As he grew and matured, Dane found that his friends became more like family and he was never alone. His closest friends were Joseph Gooding, Jr., Colton Pridgen, Donnie Steffa, Tyler Steffa, Jordan Pritchett, and Dylan Lane, with whom he went to Heaven.
With sincere respect and perfect manners, it was impossible not to see the genuine goodness in Dane. He never left his family without a hug and an “I love you,” and usually some article of their clothing- shirts, shorts, socks. His sisters say that Dane was the absolute best babysitter, especially at nap time. Dane’s life revolved around his family and he did everything in his power to help care for nieces and nephews. Dane’s life and legacy will live on through the love that his family holds for him.
A service of love and remembrance will be held Friday, April 16, 2021, at 11 o’clock in the morning in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Westview Cemetery in Kinston. Family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. The attire is “Dane’s Style”- shorts, tee-shirt and boots. So, come as you are.
Dane is survived by his mother, Kim Waters Crumbacker of Kinston, father and bonus mom, Richard and Barbara Crumbacker of La Grange, brother, Richard Crumbacker, Jr., “Pook”, of Cove City, sisters, Summer Jackson of Kinston, Katelyn Miller (Jonathan) of Pink Hill, and Marissa Lewis (Joshua) of La Grange, nephews, Jalen, Amare, and Julian Walker, Derick Alan Shaw, Aaden Atkinson, and Easton Lewis, nieces, Gracelyn Quinn and Kinley Miller.
Dane is also survived by his grandparents, Hubert and Annette Waters, Nancy Crumbacker, Sharon Crumbacker, Barbara Giniewicz, and John and Diane Peters.
