Joseph Junior Woodard, 92, passed away at his home on Friday, November 21, 2025. Born in Johnston County, he was the son of the late, Joseph Gibson Woodard and Nettie Bailey Woodard.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Hopkins.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Johnson Woodard; son, Keith Woodard and wife, Michelle; siblings, Verla Hocutt, Wallace Woodard and wife, Louise, and Doug Woodard and wife, Christine; and bonus family, Kobe, Ava, Drew, and Alyssa. Joe is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as a devoted nephew, Kevin Johnson.
A lifelong dairy farmer, he poured his heart and hands into the land, rising before dawn each day with unwavering dedication. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in providing for his family and serving his community through honest, meaningful labor.
Joe was a faithful member of Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Church in Kenly, where he served as a deacon for many years. His quiet leadership, steady spirit, and deep love for the Lord made a lasting impact on his church family. He lived out his faith daily—not just in words, but in the way he treated others with kindness, humility, and integrity.
A true patriot, Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. His love for the nation he defended continued throughout his life, reflected in his gratitude, discipline, and respect for the freedoms he helped protect.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and steadfast devotion. He will be remembered for his humble heart, his tireless work, and the love he shared with all who were blessed to know him.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Joe will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Church, 12424 NC 42, Kenly, NC 27542 in memory of Joe.
