Lamar Beamon Owensby

November 21, 2025, 72, Fremont —

Lamar Beamon Owensby, 72, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025. Born in Wayne County on September 30, 1953, he was the son of the late Clyde Lamar and Alma Beamon Owensby.

Beamon is survived by his wife of 37 years, Stacy Owensby; children, Samuel Owensby (Elise), Nathan Owensby (Brooke), and Melissa Kramer (Michael); grandchildren, Miles, Bradley, Caden, Lillian, Denver, Jayden, Jazilyn, Anthony, Ava, Sophia, Alex, Aiden, Marissa, Madison, and Brayden; siblings, Charmagne Burns (Bob), Melody Moore (George), and Shelby Owensby (Jamie); and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Beamon, a devoted family man and faithful servant of the Lord, left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His priority was always his family, whether providing for them financially or spending time together. Beyond physical needs, Beamon was intentional in leading his household in faith, ensuring the love of Christ was the foundation of their home.

For almost 20 years, Beamon worked at the Johnston County Landfill, operating heavy equipment and, as he would say, “sculpturing trash.” He retired in early 2024 and embraced the simple pleasures of the outdoors, including biking, fishing, bird watching, and gardening; his most recent endeavor was successfully growing basil.

Beamon’s endless passion for Jesus Christ was evident to all who knew him. He was a true prayer warrior and an active, dedicated member of Kenly Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon. He spent countless hours praying for and visiting his church family, consistently arriving first and leaving last, driven by devotion rather than a desire for recognition. He would share the message of the Gospel to anyone who would be willing to listen. His community involvement extended to volunteering at his grandchildren’s school with First Priority and participating in the GrayBeard men’s group at the Redeemed House. Among his friends within the group, he was affectionately known as ‘Farmer Lamar’, a nod to his love of gardening and the outdoors.

The family and friends take comfort in the knowledge that he is now in the presence of the Lord.

The family will have a celebration of Beamon’s life at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Kenly Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will preceded the service at the church from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to Kenly Missionary Baptist Church, 1730 N.C. Hwy 222 W, Kenly, NC 27542.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kenly Funeral & Cremation Service.
