April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and it couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.
Appearing on Jeff Farrow’s Morning Show on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits 1150 and 98.3, Kriquette Davis with the Goldsboro Family YMCA noted that kids could be at greater risk during the statewide “Stay-At-Home” order.
It means that victims of physical and/or sexual abuse are potentially more isolated at home with their abuser.
With kids staying at home, teachers and neighbors don’t have the same opportunity to spot instances of child abuse in person.
Davis also says parents need to be involved and keep kids safe while they go online – even for remote learning – during the time away from school.
Davis reminds “it’s our job to protect our children.”
Blue “Pinwheels for Prevention” are popping up around Wayne County in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
