WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters from several area fire departments gathered at the Thoroughfare Fire Department Tuesday night for a hands-on training exercise focused on responding to liquefied petroleum (LP) gas emergencies.
The live burn training provided firefighters with an opportunity to practice techniques used to safely control and suppress fires involving LP gas.
During the exercise, firefighters received hands-on instruction in using small attack hose lines to control LP gas fires, disperse flammable vapors and manage hazardous conditions associated with gas leaks and spills.
The training emphasized proper firefighting techniques, teamwork and safety procedures when responding to potentially dangerous situations involving propane and other LP gases.
Live fire exercises allow firefighters to gain valuable experience in a controlled environment, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to respond effectively during real emergencies.
The training also provided an opportunity for firefighters from neighboring departments to work together, strengthening coordination and emergency response capabilities throughout Wayne County.
