GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Children of all ages and abilities now have a new place to play together following the official grand opening of the all-inclusive playground at North End Park in Goldsboro.
The City of Goldsboro celebrated the completion of the playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 23, welcoming families, community leaders, and supporters to the new recreational space at 300 Neil Street.
Following the ceremony, children wasted no time exploring the new playground, sliding, spinning, climbing, and enjoying the opportunity to play side by side.
The playground was made possible through a $250,000 grant from Trillium Health Resources’ Play Together! Accessible Playground program, which supports the development of inclusive recreational spaces for children of all abilities.
Designed to accommodate children with a wide range of physical, intellectual, and developmental abilities, the playground features wheelchair-accessible ramps, rubberized safety surfacing, adaptive play structures, and sensory-friendly equipment.
The inclusive design allows children with and without disabilities to enjoy playground activities together, helping remove barriers to recreation while encouraging social interaction and friendship.
City officials expressed appreciation to Trillium Health Resources, the Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities, and community partners whose support helped bring the project to life.
The new playground represents an important addition to Goldsboro’s recreational facilities, providing a welcoming environment where children can explore, build friendships, and enjoy outdoor activities regardless of their abilities.
The all-inclusive playground is now open to the public at North End Park, located at 300 Neil Street in Goldsboro.
