October 16, 2026, 54, Mount Olive – Melodie Robin Smith, 54, of Mount Olive, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, October 16, 2026. Though her passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she leaves behind will forever be cherished.
She is loved and survived by the love of her life for 34 years, her husband, Dexter Smith; sons, Travis Smith, Jeremy Smith, George Walker, II and James Walker; daughters, Jazzmen West, Heather Smith and Ashley Smith; a brother, James Music and her sister Betty Ann Music. She is also loved by 15 grandchildren and one on the way.
Melodie loved her family with all her heart. They were a special part of her life, and the love she held for them was deep and unwavering. She had a way of finding joy in the little things that made life meaningful. Whether she was relaxing while playing games on her phone, working through her favorite crossword puzzles, or creating beautiful photo collages to place in picture frames, Melodie enjoyed surrounding herself with the things that brought her happiness and reminded her of the people and moments she treasured.
She also found comfort and creativity in coloring, taking pride in her finished projects and framing them to keep. Each collage and framed creation reflected a little piece of her heart and her desire to hold on to the things that mattered most to her.
Melodie loved spending time outdoors and had a special place in her heart for the animals in her life. She shared a love-hate relationship with her cats, a reminder that even our quirks and everyday moments can become treasured memories. She deeply loved her dogs, Oreo and Romeo, and carried that love with her until their passing. Her love for her family extended to her brother-in-law, Danny Smith, who held a special place in her heart.
Melodie’s life was made up of the simple, meaningful things she loved: family, creativity, treasured photographs, time outdoors, and the companionship of the animals who brought her joy. Though her time here was cut unexpectedly short, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
She will be remembered with love, missed more than words can express, and held close in the memories that will never fade. May those who loved Melodie find comfort in remembering her life, the things that made her who she was, and the love she leaves behind.
No services will be held at this time.
