PET OF THE WEEK: Velvet powered by Jackson & Sons

Soft as velvet and cute as can be! This week’s Pet of the Week, powered by Jackson & Sons, introduces Velvet, an adorable black kitten with captivating eyes and a sweet little face that is sure to melt hearts.

Velvet is a six-month-old female Domestic Shorthair mix currently waiting for her forever home at Wayne County Animal Services.

With her fluffy, coal-black coat, bright golden-green eyes, and oversized pointed ears, Velvet is a picture-perfect little feline. Her soft-looking fur, delicate whiskers, and long, bushy tail give her an especially charming appearance.

In her photo, Velvet sits with her tail stretched out beside her, gazing off to the side with an alert, curious expression. Her petite frame and bright eyes give her that irresistible kitten look.

But this beautiful little girl needs more than just admirers — she needs a family to call her own!

Velvet arrived at Wayne County Animal Services on May 28, 2026, and has been waiting for someone special to welcome her into their home.

At just six months old, Velvet has plenty of growing up ahead of her. She’s at an age when kittens are discovering the world around them, making this a wonderful opportunity for a family to welcome a young feline companion into their lives.

Velvet is small in size, has already been spayed, and has not been declawed. Her housetraining status is currently unknown.

While her personality is best discovered during an in-person visit, her adorable appearance and expressive eyes make her a kitten worth meeting.

Black cats sometimes get overlooked in animal shelters, but Velvet is proof that these beautiful felines deserve just as much attention and love as any other pet.

Could Velvet be the purr-fect addition to your family?

Anyone interested in adopting Velvet is encouraged to contact Wayne County Animal Services and ask about Animal ID #68439.

This week’s Pet of the Week is proudly powered by Jackson & Sons, helping shine a spotlight on adoptable animals in Wayne County and connecting deserving pets with loving families.

Give Velvet the chance to trade shelter life for a lifetime of love!
