For to me, to live is Christ [He is my source of joy, my reason to live] and to die is gain [for I will be with Him in eternity].
Phillippians 1:21
After a beautiful life, Sandra Boyd better known to most of us as Linda, peacefully crossed the veil on September 30, 2026 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center to return to the source of all things, the Creator.
Linda was a summer baby, born on July 8, 1955 to Eddie Walker and Rossie Washington Wallace she was the fifth child of fifteen. She was a fashionista; a DIVA some would say. Her shoes were a collection of high heels in every color and every height except kitten heel, the higher to heaven the better! even on vacation at the beach, she packed high heels. She loved bright colors, shopping for the latest fashion, keeping a pristine home and driving fine automobiles. The nieces and nephews called her the “ Rich Auntie”. She was mostly reserved, meek, mild, and soft spoken until something made her laugh and then a loud thunderous laugh could be heard from across the room. Linda was an organizer and was one of the founding members for the sisters’ trip that was planned yearly.
She attended Carver Elementary School and graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1973. While she was in school, she was on the Southern Wayne basketball team and a story that comes to mind the Saints were in an intense game and the score was tied….. there was 3 seconds left on the shot clock Linda had the ball and was at half court, she lunged the ball with all her might and to everyone’s surprise, even hers, the ball went in, the crowd went wild and they won the game.
Linda met and later married Chris Coley who was in the Army and thus her life began in Washington DC. Where she continued her lifelong love of learning and received a degree with Honors from the Washington School for Secretaries in February 1980. High society life fit her well, she was a member of Phi Cheta Kappa, Tau Alpha Pi (Maryland Gamma chapter) for the Engineering Technologies, She was also on the Dean’s list for Prince George Community College for 12 semesters from 1998 -2000.
Sandra worked for Pepco Electric Company and was the Executive secretary for the president of the company, she was well loved and worked there until her retirement in 2008.
Through life’s ups and downs, twists, turns and changes Harvey Boyd saw an incredibly irresistible chocolate woman and later married whom she shared her life with for 25 beautiful years.
Linda was saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. She was a faithful member of Tried Stone FBH Church in Washington, D.C. and upon her return to Goldsboro after the death of her beloved Harvey, she became a member of New Jackson Tabernacle F.B.H Church under the leadership of Reverend Betty Faison.
