October 1, 2026, 77, Goldsboro – On October 1, 2026 (20 Tishrei 5787), Elizabeth Anne Bara-Skowronek, z”l, 77, of Goldsboro, NC, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family.
If you knew Bara, you knew her fierce love for her children, grandchildren, and cats. Born on August 14, 1949, in New York, NY, Bara spent her early years in the Bronx, where she graduated young from Bronx Science. She attended SUNY Albany and Binghamton, eventually earning a master’s in library science.
Bara and Andy met in Seattle at a party of mutual friends, and Andy thought she was the most beautiful woman there. Between Seattle, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and Florida, they raised three children, who all shared her love of reading and fiction of all sorts.
Bara was a trailblazer, earning her pilot’s license in the early 1970s. After working for the US Geological Survey, Lockheed Martin, and Citibank, she started a computer consulting business, a rarity for a lone woman in the ’80s and ’90s. When she wasn’t working, you could always find her curled up on the sofa with a cat and a good (or bad) book.
Bara leaves behind her husband, Andy; her children, Anelida, Gabriel, and Jacob; six grandchildren who called her Grandma; two cats.
In lieu of flowers, please read a favorite book and think of Bara.
