October 5, 2026, 56, – It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to William Albert Walston, Jr., affectionately known as “Skip.” Skip was one of a kind. He had a smile that could light up a room. He always liked to be busy and he enjoyed being around people. Over the past two and a half years, he has bravely fought a battle with cancer. He was grateful for every day and often responded, “I am blessed” when asked how he was.
Skip grew up in the Rosewood Community of Goldsboro, NC. He graduated from Goldsboro High School. He spent his adult life living and working in Kinston, NC.
Skip was deeply loved and cared for by his fiancée, Veronica Edwards for many years. He loved attending First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston, NC. He was grateful for all the support he received from his church family.
Skip was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Albert Walston and Linda Walston Wells. He leaves behind his sister, Tracey Daniel (Dan) of Raleigh; niece, Liz Bailey of Boston, MA; and nephew, Ford Bailey of Raleigh, NC; fiancée Veronica Edwards; and step-father, Gregory Wells.
All are invited to a graveside memorial service for Skip on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 U.S. Hwy 70 W, Princeton, NC 27569 with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Skip’s medical care teams in Goldsboro and Kinston.
