GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Rain may have moved into Wayne County over the weekend, but it didn’t keep fairgoers away from the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair.
Saturday brought strong crowds to the fairgrounds despite periods of rain, as families turned out to enjoy the midway, fair food, livestock exhibits and other attractions. As weather conditions worsened later in the afternoon, fair officials temporarily halted admissions due to the weather.
The fair continued Sunday, October 4, with another round of competitions highlighting local youth and their accomplishments.
Among Sunday’s events was the America 250th Commemorative History Contest. In the Middle School division, Jackson McClure earned first place, followed by Liam McAuley in second. In the High School division, Josslyn Snyder took first place, with Daniela Arritt finishing second.
Beef Heifer Show
Hampton Williams was named Grand Champion in the Beef Heifer Show, while Eli Price earned Reserve Grand Champion.
Showmanship winners included Mark Russell Byers in the Novice Age 5-7 division, Andi Rae Byers in the Junior Age 8-11 division and Ruby Ann Pipkin in the Intermediate Age 12-14 division.
Beef Steer Show
Jackson Pipkin earned Grand Champion honors in the Beef Steer Show and also won the Intermediate Age 12-14 Showmanship division.
Open Junior Market Lamb Show
In the Open Junior Market Lamb Show, Nathan Medlin was named Grand Champion, while Darci Boucher earned Reserve Grand Champion.
Showmanship honors went to Karson Harris in the Novice Age 3-7 division, Ditty Moore in the Junior Age 8-11 division, Kaylee Casper in the Intermediate Age 12-14 division and Darci Boucher in the Senior Age 15-18 division.
The Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair continues its annual celebration of agriculture, competition and community, with more activities, exhibits and entertainment scheduled throughout the fair’s run.
